The drive to the flight
did not start the night
in the way that we had hoped.
In his piercing way,
Teege screamed all the way
before he finally coped.
Once in the airport,
crying was cut short
despite his consternation.
He stopped and stared,
plus smiled if he cared
at people’s fascination.
The lines weren’t too long,
not a thing went wrong,
and soon we were at the gate.
You thought it was weird
that no plane had neared
and that they were tempting fate.
Southwest proved us wrong;
They knew all along
that we would still leave on time.
T-minus twenty
for them was plenty
to turn the plane on a dime.
The flight was better,
although much wetter,
for our little baby boy.
They lost our car seat,
which wasn’t too neat,
but we got a loaner “toy”.
Dinner though was good,
which brightened our mood
and made ev’rything alright.
Jammies were laid out;
Soon the lights were out
as we settled for the night.
